To use Hoiio when you are overseas, you need to enable data. It is because Hoiio uses GPRS to initiate calls and sending SMS. This article is about how to enable your data in Android when roaming without incurring expensive data roaming charges.

First of all, you need to switch off auto-sync data manually (this is to prevent some background processes to use data, i.e. email services). After that, you can enable data roaming. Please refer to the two step-by-step explanation about switching of auto-sync and enable data roaming.

To switch off auto-sync

  1. Go to Home screen
  2. Go to Menu > Settings > Accounts & sync
  3.  Disable Background data and Auto-sync

To enable data while you are roaming

  1. Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks
  2. Enable Data roaming
