After installation, Hoiio crashes at the splash screen when I try to launch it. My phone language is set to Chinese.
This seems to be an issue with the .NET Compact Framework required by Hoiio when running on phones where the user has changed the default language in Regional Settings to Chinese. The problem causes Hoiio to crash when trying to access the system's current time. The problem seems to happen frequently on HTC phones with the language set to Chinese (Singapore). Changing the language in Regional Settings to English will allow Hoiio to run normally. However, if you want to use Chinese as the default language, please use the following workaround:
1. Open Region Settings in Start > Settings > System
2. In the Region tab, ensure that the default language is set to the preferred Chinese option, for example, Chinese (Singapore)
3. In the Date tab, under Calendar Type, select another type of calendar, instead of Gregorian Calendar.
4. Click OK to save the settings and reboot your phone. Hoiio should be able to start normally.
An error message 'An unexpected error occurred with Hoiio.exe' is displayed and Hoiio is terminated.
There may be several reasons for this error. Please try the following suggestion in the order listed
If the problem still appears, please provide the following information to us:
